Malaika Collette is an eighteen-year-old climate activist from Peterborough, Ontario. She has organized strikes and lobbied governments and school boards at both the local and national levels, including with Climate Strike Canada. Since 2020, Malaika has worked with Mock COP26, starting as a volunteer and now serving as a student staff member. Malaika credits Peterborough’s Youth Leadership in Sustainability program for giving her the tools that helped build her knowledge and self-confidence. She is passionate about climate action and climate education and is currently on a gap year to focus on her activism and attend COP26 in Glasgow Scotland before attending university.
